ARTIST STATEMENT

I am an oil painter/installation artist, and a mathematician.

Art and mathematics are to me two faces of the same creative coin and they are deeply linked at a conceptual level. (But of course they are also different.) Each reflects and holds beauty and harmony. Equations are strikingly perfect in their abstract simplicity.

In my work I explore visual interactions through shapes, forms, and colors, and I am searching for my "true [colors, mathematical] self."

My painting style is abstract, paralleling mathematical abstractions. My colors are very bright and mostly primary, the colors of the sun, the burning fire in ourselves.

I arrange my oil paintings and art works in installations that read like pages of gigantic books of lucid colors. My installations are mental cities of exuberant colors permeated by strong and brightly colored energy beams that grab and possess the totality of space. They are meteors that are suspended and coursing through outer space. They continually bomb and assault us. It is Dante's inferno, in Yellow, Blue, and of course Red.
